Cathy Lee Gibson

Associate Director, Management Programs

School of Industrial and Labor Relations


Cathy L. Gibson is the Associate Director with the Metropolitan Office of Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations Extension in New York City.

Ms. Gibson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Ithaca College and a Master of Business Administration from Pace University, where she was recognized for outstanding scholarship in the field of management.

Ms. Gibson has extensive experience working in small and large organizations, including educational settings. She has managed the Equal Opportunity and World Headquarters employment functions for a major US corporation. In this role, she planned and directed staffing efforts for a 1200-person facility and participated in the development and implementation of company-wide human resources policies. Her role in ensuring compliance with the organization's EEO-related objectives included investigating and resolving allegations of unlawful discrimination and recommending and implementing appropriate responses to formal complaints. She also led a team of human resources professionals and operations managers in developing and implementing new performance management systems.

Ms. Gibson is certified as a Compensation Professional by WorldAtWork (formerly the American Compensation Association) and as a Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute.
