Ronald M. Katz, SPHR, is the president of Penguin Human Resource Consulting, LLC. He has extensive experience in the areas of human resources, training, and management development. Mr. Katz is an adjunct instructor at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
For Cornell he teaches Performance Management and Appraisal, Strategic Staffing, Managing Performance, Selection and Staffing, and Effective Interviewing. Mr. Katz is also on the faculty with the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies and the Mercy College Graduate Program in Human Resource Management, where he also serves as a member of their Advisory Board.
In addition, Ron spent eleven years at the Chase Manhattan Bank, most recently as Vice President in Employee Relations Training.
In this role he created and delivered training on Employment Law, Sexual Harassment Awareness, Performance Management, and Effective and Legal Interviewing.
On his own or on behalf of Cornell University ILR, Ron has provided consultative services in the areas of performance management, interviewing skills, diversity, sexual harassment, and disability awareness for a number of clients including some of the largest financial institutions in Europe, Japan, and North America. He has reviewed and modified human resource and management systems and delivered training to the human resource staff and line managers of a wide variety of organizations.
Mr. Katz is the author of Recruiting Strategies for Today's Staffing Trends, Employee Relations Today (John Wiley & Sons, publishers), and a contributor to WorkForce.com, where his latest article, "Lessons from a Whale" appeared in March 2003. "The Six Steps of Performance Management" appeared in November 2001 and his article "Interviewing is Not Interrogation" in May 2000. He is an accomplished public speaker and has spoken nationally on Human Resource issues. His inspirational presentation style has proven effective with seasoned professionals as well as newcomers to the field.
Mr. Katz holds a B.A. degree from Binghamton University. His graduate degree is the Diploma in Human Resource Management from New York University. He volunteers his services to Habitat for Humanity, offering career consulting to new homeowners, as well as building new homes.
