Susan Brecher has a B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Union College and a J.D. from CaseWestern Reserve University, where she was on the Law Review.
Ms. Brecher is the Director of Curriculum and Training Design at Cornell University's Metropolitan District Office of The New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). She is an attorney who specializes in the field of employment practices including alternative dispute resolution. At Cornell's ILR School, Ms. Brecher has had responsibilities for the Management Programs, which include courses in the areas of Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO), Labor Relations, Human Resources and Management Development. This extensive workshop series has over 90 different public courses and 50 in-house programs a year. The program at ILR provides organizations, Human Resources and EEO practitioners, and managers with the specialized knowledge and skills required to effectively meet the responsibilities of the organization or the person's job.
Ms. Brecher has co-authored a column on training for the periodical HR Advisor Legal & Practical Guidance. She has also published some of her materials including "The Complaint Handler's Model" in the resource book, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace (Wiley & Sons, 1994). Prior to joining Cornell, Ms. Brecher served as in-house employment Counsel at the American Broadcasting Companies and the National Broadcasting Company and was associated with the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom.
Ms. Brecher, an employment practices attorney, is a resource in curriculum design/training for ILR extension. As an expert trainer, she is working with eCornell to make Management Programs training accessible via the Internet. She is responsible for program design for the EEO Workshop series, directs the on-site EEO program, and has academic responsibility for the ADR and Complaint Handling workshops.
