Since 1940, our client has been innovating in the delivery of gases and chemicals to power companies in the manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and technology industries. Headquartered in the northeastern United States, its 18,500 employees are located all over the world.

Their challenge is to provide consistent learning that infuses the organization with best practices from other industries, and deliver it to their employees--no matter where they reside. They had 'downsized' their training team in the past few years, making the challenge even more difficult.
Solution:
eCornell's collaborative online courses provided the perfect opportunity for this organization's managers to add leadership skills to their existing technical and functional expertise. The interaction among course participants and the course instructor provides a way for managers to learn from others, to gain exposure to new thoughts and ideas, as well as to share their own experiences. It also gives employees a way to gauge their own culture against other companies' cultures.

Outcomes:
The proof of concept with the early adopter population has laid the groundwork for an enterprise-wide management development program. Managers will enroll in one of two management development tracks based on their existing competencies. The 12- to 18-month program will integrate eCornell programs in supervisory and leadership skills with leading, specialized content from other vendors. Custom-designed assessments from eCornell will help ensure that managers enroll in the correct management development track.
