How does it work?
The ILR Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management is offered completely online, and you can finish in as little as nine months—or even less if you’ve already completed some of the course work. The program includes:
- Two of three focused tracks of study: Employee Relations, Engaging Talent, and HR Strategy. Each track comprises six 2-week courses. Join our global community of students for diverse and interactive learning activities.
- Participate in an eight-week course designed help you develop the skills to sustain momentum, negotiate for resources, and coach others to perform to their potential to ensure that critical initiatives are executed. This learning experience is limited to HR Management Graduate Certificate students.
- Contribute regularly to our online discussion forums for ongoing communication, collaboration, knowledge-building, and helps you establish and perpetuate a community of practice.
- Four online webcasts on issues of importance to HR professionals.
- Create and present a portfolio of your work to show how you’ve applied the lessons you’ve learned to your workplace. You’ll reflect on your studies throughout the program, and discuss your progress one-on-one with your portfolio advisor.

Once you’ve completed the program, you’ll receive a certificate from the ILR School, and you’ll have earned nearly 20 percent of the credit needed for a master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations or Master of Professional Studies.* You’ll also receive advice on how to present this new asset to your current employer or to prospective employers, as well as access to specialized employment networks, online social support, and entrance to eCornell’s extensive, vibrant alumni network. Authored by members of the ILR School faculty, the certificate program goes beyond a textbook approach and uses real-world, interactive, problem-based instruction.
