Lead Motion Graphics Artist

Job Description

eCornell Lead Motion Graphics Artists create best-in-class animation assets to enhance eCornell’s online learning solutions. They work in collaboration with eCornell Instructional Designers, contract animators, and product stakeholders to effectively design and deliver creative assets for online courses on time and on budget. Lead Motion Graphic Artists also set and communicate aesthetic standards for animation work across a wide range of contract animators, ensuring that work is visually consistent and adheres to eCornell’s style guidelines and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have the ability to actively participate in collaborations with internal and external production teams and contribute creative visual solutions for complex learning concepts. All candidates must be able to storyboard, design, and animate using Adobe Creative Cloud software, specifically After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Knowledge of HTML5 and multimedia authoring tools is a plus.


  • Conceptualize, storyboard, design, and animate a variety of visual content for eCornell course videos using After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud software
  • Actively participate in collaborations with internal and external production teams and contribute to creative visual solutions for complex concepts that meet learning objectives
  • Map out key animation scenes through the development of storyboards to hand off to contract motion graphics artists
  • Review and approve all design/animation executed by contract animators
  • Help build and maintain a comprehensive creative asset library of animations and graphics
  • Effectively manage time and effort spent on projects while making on-time delivery of creative assets with tight deadlines


  • Extensive knowledge in Adobe CS — primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, with a minimum of three years experience in motion graphics
  • Ability to work across a variety of design fields: motion graphics, illustration, and graphic design
  • Ability to collaborate within a team
  • A strong foundational knowledge of layout, color, typography, and visual timing
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a brand system and maintain brand consistency across all assets
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines, while maintaining flexibility to changing priorities
  • Experience working with highly technical illustration and animation
